About the Opportunity
Currently, Salit Steel is looking for multiple Production Workers to work on a full-time basis in one of our locations throughout Ontario: Fort Erie, Niagara Falls, Welland, Burlington, Etobicoke, Concord, or Bowmanville. Shifts will be Monday-Friday on a rotating schedule of mornings, afternoons, and nights with occasional overtime opportunities available.
Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Production Worker is primarily responsible for the operations of various shop equipment in order to prepare steel orders for delivery to Salit customers, on time and in compliance with company and customer requirements for quality, and in a safe and efficient manner.
More specifically, your responsibilities will include:
- Operating machinery, equipment, and tools in a safe and efficient manner while wearing appropriate safety equipment
- Ensuring machine guards are in place and material is handled in a safe manner
- Operating overhead cranes (training certification required prior to operating)
- Following work instructions, procedures and adhering to company policies and rules
- Reporting any unsafe acts or conditions of which you are aware, and maintaining a clean and organized work area
- Adhering to the requirements of section 28 of the Occupational Health & Safety Act
In order to qualify for this role, you will need a high school diploma; previous experience in a manufacturing or construction environment would be a strong asset, as is experience operating an overhead crane or fork truck. The ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment and the physical stamina to lift up to 50lbs is required for this role.
